| Few Words from the Webmaster |
Like many of us, even I was fascinated by the huge size
of the web and like most others I wondered whether I can be a part of it. I had
learnt HTML from my friend Naresh. All that I knew was a little bit of Flash and
Graphics editing. I had no idea how to go about publishing a website. Then I met
Mr. Shekhar Sherikar (My Inspiration)
who had his own personalised website - Sherikar.com.
I gathered all the fundamental knowledge I could and launched my first ever website
http://honmore.freeservers.com on
8th February, 2002 (my brother's birthday). The main aim of this site was to have
a homepage with all the links and search on it.
This site however, used many applets and scripts making it slower to download.
Thats why the idea struck me to simplify the interface. Taking inspiration from
Google - a clean and mean 'orange dominant' website was launched. This site is
hosted for free by Balasainet.com. This was really fast. But for reasons not under
my control, the website never got completed. I had put a short notice on the index
page -'This site is partially under construction' - the message for which my friend
Sandeep even now mocks at me.
Later I tried many other webhosts : Geocities, Tripod, Netfirms for subdomain
hosting but I always felt that something was missing. I soon realised what the
problem was - personal domain. With my domain I could do much more things than
I was doing till now. That gave an idea to launch a website with my personal domain
Honmore.com.
After 20 months of launching my first website, I was successful in convincing
my father. On 8 October 2003, I purchased the domain from Web-Mantra.com. Sherikar
was always there to help me (Sorry Shekhar, if I have harrassed you a lot!). By
the guidance of Shekhar, I signed for web services on various websites. The category
for the site was chosen as 'Community Web Portal', the target audience for which
are mainly Honmores. So on my 21st birthday, 15 October 2003, Honmore.com became
a reality.
Honmore.com is my humble presentation for everybody. I would like to really thank
my friends who stood by me and supported me during the making of this website.
I would also like to thank my family who let me do my work - without which this
wasn't possible. Last but not the least, I would like to thank all my service
providers who are providing me an excellent service.
